Currently Crivitz Pharmacy has purchased the Wainwright building and will be opening a pharmacy here in Wausaukee within a couple weeks. This is especially good news to those that have to travel to get medications and other forms of medical supplies not sold in our area.
Other businesses moving or moved to the down town are in the works. The library completed their move and are open at 703 main street with lots more services the centralized location should increase their traffic. The tattoo shop is open on the south end of town in the building formerly owned by Loren Marcusen. The Beer Den next door is awaiting state licensing so they can go back to the board to get permits to open their Beer and liquor sales store.
Good luck to Eric Keyers, he purchased the former Rogers Service on 903 Main.
When Jon Mosher heals from his surgeries he plans to re-open his Mosher Auto Repair at 603 Main. We owe a debt of gratitude that he has spent two terms over seas in Iraq and Afganistan in the National Guard and returned safe. It is hard to start a business, be disrutped for a year, restart the business and then be sent over again. We will be looking forward to seeing Jon re-open his shop and succeed.
The old Bakery is owned by some Polish Brothers that are going to retail and whole sale their polish sausage. They are in the works of improving the building, adding on, possible roof modifications so it make take them some time to complete the necessary repairs and improvements before they can open.
There are other interested parties wanting to develop some additional businesses in the Village but they are in stages of funding, procuring land/rental space and are waiting to make the move when it becomes feasible.
This is good news considering the state of the economy. We wish them all well.

Watching the community grow
In this disturbing economy we should remain positive because our community is growing with new businesses opening up this year. Granted some have been lost but the new ones replacing them give us hope that people feel strongly about committing to our Villages well being or they would not invest in a venture. This adds to our economic health and makes are Village more sustainable when you have the services offered in the area that people want or need. What kinds of business do you think would be attractive to our area that we currently do not have? Any suggestions as to how we could attract them to our community?

Old High School Clean Up
What are your thoughts about the Old High School Clean Up. We are working towards solving this problem so that we can use this area for a more productive use. What would you like to see go into that area after a clean up is completed? The village and committees are working hard and taking their time to make sure everything is done right so that our Village doesn't incur unwanted penalties or costs for a cleanup of this site. Federal, State, County and local building codes all play into how and when a site can be cleaned up and how it will ultimately get paid for. What are your thoughts on the potential use of the site, are you willing to assist in getting some of the prep work done? Volunteers are always needed to work with the committees doing the accessments, investigations, grants ect so if you think you can contribute we would like to hear from you.

wausaukee.com history updates
Added considerable content to our history page again in the last week and a half due to the contributions of two locals. They donated over 80 photos for us to copy and the information was helpful in us locating many buildings, history of the ownership and events of the past. Two interviews were also conducted in the last two weeks for two 90+ aged residents. That info alone took over 20 hours to upload and refine. We continue to look for additional photos of the past and the stories to go with them. If you have any information about past businesses, the late 1880 thur 1920 period in our area, please feel free to contribute.
